GTA 6 on track to break GTA 5's Guinness record for most vehicles

GTA 6 has at least 302 vehicles counted in marketing, Vandal reports, putting it on course to beat GTA 5's Guinness record of 257 for the series.

Reported. Established outlets report this. Rockstar hasn't said so.

Grand Theft Auto 6 isn't out yet, but it already looks ready to take a Guinness World Record from its predecessor. Spanish outlet Vandal reported on October 31 that at least 302 vehicles have been counted in GTA 6's trailers, images and gameplay footage so far. That is well past the 257 vehicles that earned GTA 5 the record for the most vehicles in a Grand Theft Auto game. The same report quotes Guinness World Records on which other GTA 6 records it plans to look at once the game launches on November 19.

The record GTA 5 holds

According to Vandal, GTA 5 launched with 217 vehicles. Post-launch content and re-releases on other platforms later brought that to 257. The count includes everything with an engine or a hull: cars, motorbikes, helicopters, speedboats and the rest.

The 302 figure for GTA 6 comes only from what has been shown publicly. Vandal points to the trailers, official images and gameplay footage shown through Netflix. Rockstar has not given an official vehicle count, so the real number could be higher once the full game is out. If the tally holds, GTA 6 would beat GTA 5's final total on launch day, without the years of updates GTA 5 needed to reach its number.

Already in the record books

This wouldn't be GTA 6's first Guinness entry. Vandal notes that the game already holds the record for the most views of a video game trailer in 24 hours, set by its first trailer. We covered that debut in our Trailer 1 explainer. The second trailer was briefly the most-watched trailer ever within its launch window, according to Vandal, until the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer passed it.

What Guinness is watching next

Alice Bell edits the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2027. In comments quoted by Vandal, she said the vehicle record is unlikely to be the only one GTA 6 picks up. Bell said Guinness will look at records for player numbers and revenue. It will also look at how many developers worked on the game, a record Rockstar already holds through Red Dead Redemption 2. Given Rockstar's history of huge production teams, GTA 6 has a real shot at taking that one from its own studio sibling.

What it means for players

A vehicle count is a trivia stat, but it also tells you how much variety to expect. More than 300 vehicles in the footage alone points to plenty of choice on Leonida's roads, waterways and skies, whether you're picking a getaway car or just filling a garage. It also suggests Rockstar is starting from a bigger base than GTA 5 did, before any post-launch additions.

What's still unconfirmed

Nothing here is official yet. Rockstar hasn't confirmed how many vehicles GTA 6 has, the 302 figure is a count from marketing material, and Guinness hasn't ratified a new record. Records based on player numbers or revenue would depend on figures that only exist after launch. With release set for November 19 (see our release date timeline), we should get a clearer answer within weeks.
