GTA 6 Leonida map: all six regions explained
Vice City, Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga: a guide to the six regions of GTA 6's Leonida map and what each one offers.
Confirmed. Rockstar Games or Take-Two said this on the record.

GTA 6 is going well beyond a single city. Rockstar Games has confirmed six major regions for Leonida, the fictional state where Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos try to pull off their plans. Vice City is the centre of it all, but the map also takes in an island chain, a run-down coastal town, sugar country, swampland and a mountain park. The game launches on November 19, so here is a rundown of each region. It draws on what Rockstar has shown and on a detailed breakdown that Brazilian outlet Critical Hits published on October 26.
The six regions at a glance
| Region | What it is | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Big coastal city with beaches, towers, neighbourhoods and nightlife | Where most of Jason and Lucia's story plays out |
| Leonida Keys | Island chain modelled on the Florida Keys | Jason's old home turf |
| Port Gellhorn | Rougher, low-rise working town | A deliberate contrast to Vice City's glamour |
| Ambrosia | Rural and industrial, built around a sugar refinery | Linked to crime and a biker gang |
| Grassrivers | Thick wetlands full of wildlife | Water-based activity, and probably the alligators |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | Forests, roads and high ground | The game's wilderness, with outdoor pursuits expected |
Vice City
The headline act. According to Critical Hits, Vice City combines busy streets, beaches, high-rises, residential districts, nightlife and a long waterfront, and it sits at the centre of the main story. Rather than one big blob of city, it is broken into areas with their own identity. The outlet lists:
- Ocean Beach: hotels, crowds, sand and the nightlife strip
- Little Cuba: a community defined by its businesses, architecture and street culture
- Stockyard: a grittier, artsy district known for huge murals on walls and overpasses
- Vice City Port: warehouses, vehicles, open lots and water access, a trade and shipping hub
- Starfish Island: a name longtime fans will recognise from 2002's GTA Vice City
- Venetian Islands: more room for boats and other watercraft
- Leaf Links: a golf location, picking up an activity that GTA 5 also had
- Bayside and Watson Bay: smaller coastal communities
- Vice City International Airport: runways, terminals, parking and aircraft
Leonida Keys
This island chain is based on the Florida Keys and feels more remote than the city, with channels, rivers and plenty of boat traffic. It matters for the story too. Jason lived and worked here before he met Lucia, and Critical Hits places his safehouse in the Keys. The outlet ties that property to his time working for Brian Heder, a local drug dealer who runs a boatyard in the area.
Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is the other side of the Leonida dream. Critical Hits describes worn-down, low-rise buildings, long roads, local shops and working communities, all clearly set against the polished parts of Vice City. If Vice City is the postcard, Port Gellhorn is what's left once the tourists drive home.
Ambrosia
Ambrosia mixes farmland and industry, and its biggest employer is the Allied Crystal sugar refinery. Critical Hits also connects the region to criminal activity and a motorcycle gang, so don't expect a quiet country drive.
Grassrivers
Grassrivers is Leonida's swamp country, with dense vegetation, lots of wildlife and activities on the water. Critical Hits points out that the alligators from Rockstar's promotional material fit this setting best. That is an educated guess, not something Rockstar has spelled out.
Mount Kalaga National Park
The park brings forests, winding roads and higher ground to a state that is otherwise very flat and very wet. Critical Hits expects it to be the main spot for hunting and fishing, though Rockstar has not detailed which activities will be found there.
Counties, businesses and the Ultimate Edition
Beyond the six headline regions, Critical Hits names three counties (Vice-Dale County, Leonard County and Kelly County) that serve as in-between zones linking the city, the coast and the interior, with rural roads, marshes, islands, beaches and industrial areas.
The outlet also lists businesses that give each area its character:
- Only Raw Records: a record label run by Boobie Ike and Dre'Quan Priest
- Jack of Hearts: an adult club
- Tisha-Wocka: a flea market
- Brian Heder's boatyard in the Keys
Critical Hits links a second batch of locations to the game's Ultimate Edition: PTT YOUNGIN$ (an illicit goods shop), Sara's Unisex Salon, Rideout Customs, Paradise Garage, the Stock 305 clothing store, Electric Fang Tattoo and One-Eyed Willie's, an off-road vehicle shop. If any of these sway your purchase, check exactly what each edition includes on your platform's store page before you buy.
What's still unclear
The six region names come from Rockstar. Plenty of the finer detail does not yet. Exact borders, which activities sit in which region and how the counties fit together will only be clear once players have the game in hand. For a sense of scale, Rockstar has said the map is about twice the size of GTA 5's, and an Edge feature reports that the map opens up early for free exploration, so you shouldn't have to wait long to see all six regions. Launch details are in our GTA 6 release date guide.
