GTA 6 Online could launch in early 2027, Bank of America says
Bank of America tells investors a new GTA Online for GTA 6 could arrive in January to March 2027. Rockstar hasn't confirmed any multiplayer plans yet.
Rumour. An unverified leak or claim. Treat it with caution until Rockstar speaks.

Bank of America has told investors that it expects a new version of GTA Online, built on GTA 6, to arrive as early as the first quarter of 2027. That window runs from January to March. The forecast appears in an investor memo seen by Business Insider and reported by GameSpot on October 28. Keep in mind that this is an analyst's projection, not an announcement. Rockstar has said nothing about when, or how, multiplayer will come to GTA 6.
Why a bank is talking about GTA Online
The memo is mostly about Take-Two's share price, which has been sliding even with the biggest launch in the company's history only weeks away. According to GameSpot, the stock is down 21% this year and fell below $200 in the week of its report, a long way from its 52-week high of $265.
Bank of America thinks the market has this wrong. "We recommend being long $TTWO through the GTA 6 launch," the bank wrote, which means buying the stock and holding it. It added that the stock "remains cheap." A big part of its argument is that investors aren't giving enough weight to what a GTA Online follow-up could earn. The bank still rates Take-Two a buy, though it cut its price target from $380 to $330. GameSpot notes that the new target is still more than 60% above the current share price.
What this means for players
Officially, GTA 6 is a single-player game, and that is how Rockstar has described it. Still, almost nobody expects Rockstar to skip online play for long. The original GTA Online grew into one of the company's biggest money makers, mostly through microtransactions, and it is still running more than a decade later. A new version on GTA 6's much larger map would give Rockstar a fresh platform for the same model.
There is also precedent for the wait. As GameSpot points out, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both launched without their online modes, which followed later. If GTA 6 follows that pattern, the story campaign gets the spotlight first when the game releases on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and multiplayer comes after.
The bank's timing would also put the new online mode close to another expected milestone. GameSpot notes that a PC edition of GTA 6 could land in the same early 2027 window, which matches GamesBeat's earlier report of a Q1 2027 PC release. Rockstar has not confirmed either date.
What's still unconfirmed
Pretty much everything about the online side remains unknown. Rockstar hasn't named a multiplayer mode for GTA 6 or said whether it will be a separate release or part of the base game. It also hasn't shared what it would include or when it would go live. Bank of America is reading the market and Rockstar's past behaviour, and nothing in the memo suggests it has inside knowledge of Rockstar's plans. Treat the Q1 2027 window as an educated guess from investors watching a stock, not a release date.
The clearer signal will probably come from Take-Two itself. Publishers often share their roadmaps with shareholders after a major launch, so the company's next earnings calls after November 19 are worth watching. Until then, the confirmed plan is simple: GTA 6 arrives as a single-player game on November 19, and any word on online play has to come from Rockstar.
