GTA 6 gets PS5 Pro Enhanced badge, but no 60fps details

GTA 6's PlayStation Store page carries a PS5 Pro Enhanced badge, Critical Hits reports, but Rockstar and Sony haven't detailed resolution or frame rate.

Reported. Established outlets report this. Rockstar hasn't said so.

GTA 6's PlayStation Store page now shows Sony's "Enhanced for PS5 Pro" badge, according to Brazilian outlet Critical Hits. The outlet noted on November 1 that neither Rockstar Games nor Sony has said what the label means in practice. So far nobody has announced a resolution target, a frame rate mode or any feature exclusive to the Pro.

The game launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Critical Hits points out that everything Rockstar has shown so far, trailers and gameplay included, was captured on a standard PS5, and there has been no official demonstration on Sony's more powerful console. That gap has been there for a while, as we covered in our earlier look at GTA 6 on PS5 Pro.

What the Enhanced badge does and doesn't tell you

The badge signals that the game has had some tuning for the Pro's hardware. It doesn't say what kind. A sharper image, extra graphical effects and separate performance modes are all possible readings, and the listing doesn't settle which.

One retailer went further. During pre-orders, Brazilian store KaBuM! advertised "more stable FPS" and Pro-exclusive improvements. Critical Hits stresses that this was the shop's own marketing copy, not an announcement from Sony or Rockstar, so it shouldn't be treated as a guarantee.

The 60fps question on PS5 Pro

The most direct comment on record came in August. Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, told content creator Davy Jones of the GameplayRJ channel that GTA 6 runs at 30fps on consoles, PS5 Pro included, according to Critical Hits. Nelson added that he would have to check with the technical team on whether a 60fps mode could arrive at launch or in a later update. Critical Hits doesn't report any follow-up from Rockstar since then.

Digital Foundry's technical analysis, as summarised by Critical Hits, explains why a higher frame rate isn't simple. The main bottleneck appears to be the CPU, which has to simulate Vice City's population and physics. The PS5 Pro's processor is close to the one in the base PS5, so the Pro's extra graphics power wouldn't be enough to double the frame rate by itself.

Where the Pro could still make a difference

Critical Hits expects the realistic gains to be a cleaner image and steadier performance, probably still aiming at 30fps. It lists higher resolution, Sony's AI-based PSSR upscaling, and better ray-traced reflections and lighting as possibilities, though none of them are confirmed. For comparison, Digital Foundry estimates the standard PS5 version runs at around 1440p and is reconstructed to 4K. Whether PSSR is used at all, and how, is still unknown, and real differences will only show up in technical testing close to or after launch.

Storage is a more concrete point. Critical Hits puts the game at roughly 210 GB. The PS5 Pro ships with 2 TB, while standard models have 825 GB or 1 TB, so owners of those consoles may need to clear space first. Our pre-load and download size guide covers the details.

Critical Hits sees no sign that the base PS5 version will be cut down, since that is the hardware Rockstar has used to show the game so far. Its advice to anyone thinking about buying a Pro just for GTA 6 is to wait for the first technical breakdowns. Until Rockstar or Sony puts numbers on the badge, a 60fps mode or a dramatically better Pro version is still guesswork. For everything else confirmed so far, see GTA 6: everything we know.
